Hey guys! Due to popular request, I’m writing this short guide on crypto casinos. Questions frequently come up in our Discord about how to get started with crypto casinos, so I thought this would be a helpful post.
Before we get into how to purchase crypto, let’s discuss the important details you should know about crypto casinos before making your first deposit.
Why play at a crypto casino vs a sweepstake casino?
Pros: The main reason that you may consider playing at a crypto casino is the wider selection of games that you can play. At crypto casinos you will find many games that will be new to you if you only play at sweepstake or social casinos. You can play live game show games like Crazy Time (personal favorite) and explore the full collection of games from providers like Nolimit, Evolution, Hacksaw, and many more.
Possibly the most important pro is that crypto casinos offer instant withdrawal. No waiting on redemptions to be approved or waiting on verification to complete like at sweepstake casinos.
Many crypto casinos do not require verification (aka KYC) to deposit or withdraw funds, unlike sweepstake casinos. With crypto casinos, you can simply create an account and play without any barriers, aside from purchasing crypto and using a VPN (if playing at a no-KYC site).
With this said, if you are looking for sweepstake casinos, see this post.
Cons: The biggest con with crypto casinos is that you have to go through an extra step to purchase crypto. While this process is easy to someone familiar with crypto, it can be a new and daunting for someone unfamiliar with cryptocurrency. Hopefully this guide helps you if this applies to you.
Some crypto casinos require you to use a VPN. More on this later.
KYC vs No KYC Casinos:
KYC stands for Know Your Customer. All USA based casinos are required to follow these standards. This is to comply with anti-money laundering laws. Basically, if a casino requires KYC then you will need to submit documentation proving your citizenship and residency.
KYC Casinos - This is a small class of fully legal online crypto casinos in the USA (In most states). The most common example would be Bovada or Ignition. They will have their own set of games and do not work with the same game providers as other crypto casinos. Once verified at a KYC casino, there’s an added layer of confidence that you are legally allowed to be playing and have followed all the steps for playing in the USA. The downside is that you limited on your game selection. At KYC casinos, you will find games from smaller slot providers that allow USA players. You will not find live gameshows, or popular games from providers such as Pragmatic, Hacksaw, Nolimit, Evolution, ect…
No KYC Casinos - This is a more popular choice for players in the USA wanting to access a wider range of games. Playing at no kyc casinos will unlock massive game selections and provide access to live gameshow games like Crazy Time, Deal or No Deal, Monopoly, ect… along with tons of slot game providers that are normally restricted. When people mention crypto casinos, this is likely the type that they are referring to. There is no verification, and you can simply create an account and send money to start playing. To play at one of these places in the USA, you must use a VPN to scramble your location. Norway is a common country to set your VPN to. More on this later. I have linked a list of casinos below and have indicated which ones are no KYC.
Note: While very unlikely, there is a risk that a no KYC casino may ask you for verification if they face legal scrutiny or change their policies. This is a small risk that you must accept if you decide to play at one of these casinos. If this occurs, the most common outcome is that they would restrict your account to withdrawals only. Using the casinos that I have recommended in the spreadsheet will reduce the risk of this happening but doesn’t eliminate it. I have never been asked to KYC at the websites that I have listed after thousands wagered and withdrawn at each site. This is not legal advice.
VPN Selection:
If you have decided to sign up at a no KYC casino then you’re going to need a VPN. I use Proton (Paid option) but there are a few free options that will get the job done. Free options include privadovpn.com and Windscribe.com. You can also use the free VPN built into the Opera browser. After downloading the VPN program, It should only take a few minutes to set up. Once it’s on your PC, you can open it anytime and select a country. Norway is my go-to country as most of the game providers allow Norway traffic.
Wallet:
Think of your wallet as a digital version to the wallet you carry in your pocket. With a traditional wallet, you withdrawal money from your bank and put into your wallet. A crypto wallet is not much different just a digital version for crypto. You will purchase crypto from an exchange first. Then you can transfer to your wallet where it’s in your possession to hold or send to a casino. There are hundreds of wallets to choose from but the easiest and quickest one is the Trust Wallet app. Within seconds, you can have your wallet set up and ready to receive funds. If you are on desktop then you can still use this wallet but visit their website to download the browser extension. An alternative wallet would be Exodus which is also very popular.
Step 1: Download the Trust Wallet app
Step 2: Click “Create new wallet”
Step 3: Select “Secret phrase” and then “Back up manually” (This is so you have a backup method in case you can’t login for some reason)
Step 4: Copy your backup phrases and paste into your phone notes or write it down on paper manually for added security. They will test you briefly to make sure you wrote it down.
Your wallet is now ready to use.
Exchange:
This is the platform where you exchange your USD for crypto or vise-versa. There are many different platforms, but the most common ones are Coinbase.com or Crypto.com. There are other options, but these are the more common. All exchanges will ask you to verify your ID prior to purchasing or selling crypto. Once verified, you are ready for purchasing.
Step 1: Create a Coinbase.com account and complete the verification.
Step 2: Search for Litecoin on the Coinbase app and purchase your desired amount of Litecoin (LTC) using a debit/credit card, bank account, or PayPal.
Step 3: Go to your Trust Wallet that you created earlier and search for LTC at the top and click on it. Then click on “Receive” and copy your LTC address. This is a long string of numbers that is needed to obtain the funds in your wallet. Important note - Make sure you copy the correct wallet address for Litecoin and not a different coin.
Step 4: Click on “Withdraw” on your Litecoin balance on Coinbase and paste in the LTC address to your Trust Wallet. After submitting, allow up to 15 minutes.
Awesome, now you’re ready to send your crypto to an online casino!
This is the point where you turn your VPN on (If applicable). I recommend using Norway, or Finland, to access the widest range of games.
Depositing into the crypto casino:
Your almost ready to play. Now you just need to send your crypto to the casino of your choice.
Step 1: After creating your casino account, navigate to the deposit area.
Step 2: Select the coin that you are making the deposit in. If you’re following this guide, then you will select Litecoin (LTC). Copy the wallet address that will appear as a big string of numbers.
Step 3: Go to your Trust wallet and click “Send” and paste in the address for the casino deposit. Allow up to 15 minutes for your crypto funds to reach the casino.
Woohoo, you have done it! Now you can have fun and start playing.
Cashing out:
When you want to cash out from the casino, simply follow the same process in reverse. Copy your LTC address from the Trust Wallet app and paste it in on the redemption page of the online casino, being mindful to select LTC. Then repeat the same process to send the LTC back to the coinbase.com exchange. Once back onto the exchange you can convert the LTC to USD and send your USD funds back to your bank account via ACH.
